Specific Endowment Funds at Newman
Newman UMC has two endowment funds. An endowment fund is a fund for large giving where the principle of the fund is invested and goes largely untouched. The church draws on the interest from these funds for a variety of uses. Our original fund was established in 1989 and restructured in 2004.
When making plans you can designate one or both of the funds. If the church receives a gift from your estate that is not designated, it will be given to the special ministries fund unless it is dated prior to October 31st 2004 in which case it will be given to the capital fund.
Capital Endowment Fund:
This fund is used for capital projects such as, repairs, renovations, or the purchase of property. In the past the interest from this fund has been used to paint the sanctuary, pave the parking lot, upgrade computers and sound equipment, install new carpet in the sanctuary, and more!
Special Ministries Endowment Fund:
This fund is used for strengthening the ministries of the church. The interest from this fund is used for things like our music ministry, children youth and family programming, Single-Parent Family Ministry, Outreach to the Community, Social Justice Ministry and more!
